Where do you go when you have to go?

I know funny title.  And we are not actually talking about Jesse and myself, we are talking about Bella.  This is a conversation we have quite often when discussing the obstacles we will face as she gets older and bigger.  Right now she barely fits on changing tables, although she has probably exceeded the weight limit.  But what do we do when she gets even bigger?  Where do you change a 50 pound child who still has to wear a diaper?  It's one of those things we bring up, but don't really want to think about.  So I hope and pray that some day she will be able to sit up on her own, at least then we might be able to manage a little easier than someone who has to lay down flat.  But for now we cross our fingers that while we are out and about, she won't have a dirty diaper.  Of course it seems to happen more than not, and then we are on the lookout for someplace to change her.
I also wonder what they do in school. I imagine at this point they have a changer in the restroom that they use. But again as Bella gets bigger, I'm not quite sure how they will manage either.

I have in the back of my mind an idea to make some sort of large mat that can be laid on the ground, but just thinking about laying something on the ground in a public restroom grosses me out.  Of course it would be washed any time it was used, but it still means being on the ground.
I don't really have a good way to wrap up this topic.  I guess we will just see what happens as we get there.

Catching Up

I have been playing catch up at home this week.  Some of that means getting things done, and some of it means just doing more relaxing.  Case in point.  Most of this week I haven't gotten into work until 11am.  I have been taking Bella to preschool, going back home to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, getting ready myself, running errands, and then getting to work.  If this could be my permanent schedule life wouldn't be too bad.  But I'm thinking next week will be back to reality.
So what errands have I been running.  Well it's time to start thinking about the nursery.  I picked out some fabric for curtains, and today I picked up the paint.  As most of you know from looking at our house, I have a fondness for bold colors.  I really wanted to go a little more muted on the new nursery, but in the end I pulled a fast one and went bold once again.
Because my husband won't let me find out what we are having.......i have chosen to go with a yellow and gray color scheme.

As you can see, some pieces will have to be added later, as I really want to incorporate some florals if we have a girl.  I guess that means Grandma Judy will have to be on point to sew up a new crib skirt as soon as the baby arrives.
I also wanted to show you the bedroom paint I picked out, but I can't quite seem to figure out how.  So I guess you will have to wait and see it once it's on the walls.  Needless to say it's a yellow that is a little bit brighter than the ones in the fabric.

Deadlines

It's finally here.  Today was my official deadline at work, and my big project which has been sucking the life out of me for the past two months is finally over.  Of course it's not really 100% done, but close enough that I feel I can finally go back to my part time status at work, and not have to work on weekends or late nights anymore.  I feel that I have been neglecting Bella, Jesse, my pregnancy, the house, etc.  The due date is now only 3 months away and I have some major catching up to do on many different fronts.
The only really good thing that has happened these past couple of months is that Bella has been in a great mood. The removal of her ear tubes has seemed to keep the infections at bay, and besides the fact we don't always sleep through the night, things have been greatly improved since this past winter.
So here is to the nicer weather around the corner and hopefully getting out and doing some family activities with Bella.

Yeah, we finally painted!

Look at how excited I am to see that daddy has painted the living room.  It looks sooo much better.  Now he can finally finish my bedroom closet!

Just Because

It's been a long month for us.  For starters I have been putting in a lot more time at work.  My norm had been around 25 hours a week, and these past couple of weeks I have been getting up to 60 hours.  This means I have to work on the weekends, and not get much rest.  Not to mention our house seems to be quite neglected.
It's been the usual for Bella, usually up one or two times a night.  And every once in awhile (usually once a week) we get a night where we actually get to sleep through the night.  Our big debate now, is whether Bella will wake up the new baby once he/she arrives or if it will be the other way around.  Jesse mentioned that maybe we need to start working on Bella's bedroom on the main floor, but I just don't feel like having to get up and go all the way downstairs a couple times a night when she is upset.  I am leaning towards moving her into her new room once she stops teething, so maybe around age 5.
And this month of March is almost complete with traveling and family in town.  I think we have one weekend where we won't be out of town or have guests with us....busy busy.
And in the back of our minds is all the things we need to do in the next month - get our taxes started, finished and filed; complete three or four projects on the house (to include installing the new dishwasher we bought in December and haven't even had time to get out of the box), start thinking about the outside projects as in garden and landscaping, the later being particularly important so we don't flood our basement again.  And while we are talking about our basement, finish gutting out all the mold, yes we have been living with the mold (a small amount) for almost a year now, probably not the smartest idea. And then we need to fix the drains/backups so we don't get water in the basement that way.  If you aren't following my ramblings we got water in our basement last year both from the foundation/soil not sloping properly away from the house, and from our septic tank backing up.
Oh and did I mention I was pregnant and we have Bella.......yeah we are overwhelmed too.
